Before you register please read and accept the eligibility requirements
Class eligibility is determined by your role and the department you work in as specified on your job description. Please refer to this reference list below to verify whether you are required to maintain AHA certification(s) as part of your job responsibilities.
White Plains Hospital will pay for all AHA certifications required for your job as long as you take the course through LearnACLS LLC either on-site at White Plains Hospital or at one of LearnACLS’s alternate locations.
Some courses require the purchase or use of a training guide or provider manual. This is the responsibility of the employee to purchase if you do not have access to one on your unit/department.
Employees who are not required to have this training as specified in their job description can choose to pay our special White Plains Hospital rate to participate in the certification program, space permitting.
White Plain Hospital policy Licensure and Certification for Healthcare Professionals prohibits any employee from working with an expired certification that is required for your job.
New graduate RNs must have ACLS within 12 months of hire and experienced RNs within 6 months of hire.
What if I am a nurse who is no longer providing direct patient care in another department and I am already certified in BLS, ACLS or PALS? Can I continue to renew my certification for free?

Yes if you are a nurse who is already certified and you transfer to another department where it is not required for your job you have the option to continue to renew without paying a fee. You will not however be paid for the time or be given an education day for the class time.
If you are unsure of your eligibility and have any questions please contact the Staff Development Educator Trish Janos at pjanos@wphospital.org

Once you have completed the training class, it is the employee’s responsibility to submit a copy of their new card (which clearly shows the expiration date) to Human Resources. There are four options for this:

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS and PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA materials, do not represent income to the Association.
